This comment doesn't just go to the Dunkin Donuts Corp, it goes out to the world. We need to stop conformity (that includes making it mandatory to suggestive sell!) and we need to be able to connect with customers. I know people and did when I worked there and I liked to help these people getting their coffee in the morning, or ordering some obscene amounts of food for their daughters first sleepover. The point is, we need to stop the people behind the counter from becoming robots. Yes, they need to be trained to do well and work hard, etc. However, we shouldn't have a forced smile on our face, and we should have a forced notion in our minds. We are people who work in customer service everyday. We have regulars and form bonds, even for a short while, with our customers. To everyone: PLEASE, let people be individuals and stop worrying about the possible monetary gain of suggestive selling and the forced conduct of a fast food chain. Well, I suppose it's not that unfortunate, they do have some cute women at the one I stop at. Anyway, I'd prefer DD coffee, but there's just not one on the way to my office.
Anyhow, I made a post on my site yesterday about the sludge they serve in my office. The funny thing is that they call it coffee. Hah! Anyhow, here's the content of that post:
Who does corporate think they're fooling?
Seriously, who buys the coffee that we drink at work? They stock our breakrooms with coffee, tea, sodas, etc to keep us happy workers. But don’t they know that we all stop at Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, or Carribou Coffee in the morning? Half of us love coffee and own $200 dollar coffee machines at home. Do they really expect us to drink the coffee at work and not complain about it?
And while we’re talking about the breakroom, who are the morons that leave empty sugar packets laying on the counter? The trashcan is right next to you. You don’t have to move. Twist your upper body to the right, and drop the trash in the trashcan.
I’m not done yet. I think it’s the same folks that can’t throw their trash away that get their coffee, and leave enough for a shot glass in the coffee put. Two problems exist here. One, with that little bit of coffee in the pot, it’s going to burn into the coffee pot (assuming the pot doesn’t just explode from the heat) making coffee out of that pot taste like liquid crap. Two, it’s common-damn-courtesy to refill the pot with fresh coffee if you don’t leave enough in the pot to fill up a cup.1/28/2005 10:30 AM|||mommyrottie|||I grew up on DD. Dunkin' Donuts touts themselves as a National chain, yet they are not in all states...but they can fix it, and I think a big part of it will be advertising - because Dunkin' Donuts DOES NOT KNOW NOR UNDERSTAND THEIR PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMER BASE...in California, that is. So here we go.
What is it with California? I grew up in CT, went to school in Boston, and I LOVE Dunkin' coffee. Starbucks is crap in my opinion. They're too slow, too expensive, and don't taste that good anyway except for their Frappucinos which cost about as much as a pound of Dunkin' coffee beans.
Anyway, I moved to CA a couple years ago, and have since learned that Dunkin was here in the 90's, left, came back in 2002, and left again? What's the deal?
Here's my theory: I taught computer classes here for a while, and have met many Californians. Everyone I talk to I end up mentioning I'm from the east coast (or "Back East" as they call it here), and that I'm mad that Dunkin's not here. And they invariably say "Oh, have you tried Krispy Kreme?" When I tell them "No, no, no, Dunkin Donuts' big product is the coffee.", they respond with "Oh, they have good coffee? I didn't know that". So, this leads me to believe that Dunkin's problem is ADVERTISING. See, in New England, all you have to do is open a Dunkin' and you're guaranteed business. Because everyone there knows what it is!!! The only thought a customer has is "Hey great, now it's closer!!" It simply will NOT work that way here. People out here don't know what Dunkin is today: A low priced, high speed, quality coffee/latte shop that also sells donuts and sandwiches. In 2004, donuts made up only 14% of their revenue. The rest, was the coffee and lattes. People out here think of Starbucks, and Coffee Been & Tea Leaf, and Java City, as coffee shops. It's a general understanding that donut shops, such as Winchells, Spudnuts, YumYum, and so on, have crappy coffee (and they do). Dunkin DONUTS, is naturally perceived as just another donut shop, because the name implies it and people don't know any better. If Dunkin' Donuts is to succeed here, they need to advertise big time - tv, news paper, radio, and specifically tout themselves as a seller of the best coffee in town - better than Starbucks and the rest, YET faster and cheaper.
I have read online that outside the New England states, CA is the biggest customer of online coffee sales from dunkindonuts.com. I own seven Dunkin' travel mugs, a Dunkin' thermos, and an air-tight Dunkin' coffee storage canister and I order their coffee online regularly. I've got the formula down pretty good, and I occasionally make a thermos full and bring it into work. And EVERY time, I have people try a cup and they all are VERY impressed with how good it is, and then they ask "So - there's NO Dunkin' Donuts in CA? Are you sure?"
So, Dunkin' Donuts, get your *** out here!!!! And another thing, why Sacremento in 2002? You need to open in the Los Angeles area!!! Everyone here is in a car all the time, and needs good, fast coffee!!!! In the mean time, we'll be in line at Starbucks (when there's time to wait that long), Krispy Kreme, and McDonald's (since the former two don't have egg sandwiches) giving THEM our money instead of YOU (except for the occasional $14 for a pound of coffee - $8 for the coffee, $6 for the shipping).

The new folks are friendly and I can usually expect them to have any donut I order, regardless of the time.
I agree with previous comments to go back to the old style box. It's much easier to handle, fits better on the bucket seat or floor, and doesn't mimic your KK rivaL'S style.
I like the DD coffee cups, too, and the temperature of the coffee served--hot but not scalding. Personally I like the consistency of what "a coffee with cream and sugar" tastes like at DD; having someone serve me is just fine! The price is right, too.
Thanks, too, for your donation of coffee to soldiers in Iraq. HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT a radio spot about this great idea?

But now that I can finaly speak my mind, I can't think of a way to express the problem without sounding like a racist.
The very last Dunkin Doughnuts in my area has remodeled with a great drive up feature. Of course this is not the complaint....... My complaint........STALE COFFEE.......NO MATTER WHAT TIME OF THE DAY OR EVENING!.....ask for extra cream........you get milk..........EVERY TIME........Why would I want to pay $2.00 for a cup of coffee I can get for less than a dollar at a gas station?
Why am I so mad that I had to search the web to complain to Dunkin Donuts? Because it is.......or was my favorite coffee and WAS worth every penny.
The first time I ever recieved a bad dunkin Donut coffee was near my daughters dancing school after it was remodled about 4 years ago. The new owners were foreign , somewhere from the middle east. I figured it might have been an off day, the next few times same thing. I asked politely if they could make sure the coffee was a little fresher. I heard mumbling in another launguage and slamming. I did recieve a fresh cup , but of course with the atitude I never returned to that store.
The other store near my supermarket did the same thing. The new owners were from the middle east I never had time to stop there to begin with because it was always so busy in the past. But I go in to grab a coffee on the run since I was the only person in there.
Well coffee wasn't stale.........IT WAS WATERED DOWN!........no cream either, not even milk, tasted like skim milk in half coffee half hot water.
OK, well a little further away from my house I spot a Dunkin Donuts , this one was falling apart, had a bucket on the floor for drips of water comming from a huge old stained ceiling, you had to walk past to get to the counter. The TV was on, to an Iranian station about the war, the owner was watching and shouting something in a another language when the president came on........At the time my son who is a Marine was in Iraq fighting with his life for this jerks freedom who is shouting who knows what and raising his fists at the TV. He finally turns to me who is standing there dumb founded and grumbles "What you need?" I felt like I was in a Seinfield episode and was standing infront of the soup nazi. I walked out, so I'm not sure if that coffee was stale or not.
Stopped at the Sunoco that has a Dunkin Donuts, the owner or worker looked like they were from India was just sitting there looking out the window. I said " A great one with extra cream please" the lady asked "Is THAT all you are getting?" When I said yes, she got up seemed very annoyed that I disturbed her from her window gazing slammed the coffee on the counter.......didn't taste cream, and the coffee tasted like the bottom of the Mississipi River!
Now, my closest, last and only Dunkin Donuts a few months ago, anounced that the store was closing for renevation. The owners before the closing were from China. I never, ever received a stale coffee from that store, no matter what time of day or night. And always received cream.
But a month or so later it reopened, and the owners which I had no doubt in my mind were going to be from somewhere from the middle east sure enough were.
First 3 times I received cream and the coffee was good, not great. But it only took 2 months to receive milk and stale coffee. I tried all different times of the day, even on a Sunday Morning? How can this be? I just noticed this store when rebuilt use the big coffee urns instead of pots. And being a waitress for over twenty years, know the reason why the coffee is always stale is because the urns are not being cleaned.
I recently noticed they aren't half as busy on a Sunday morning anymore as I drive past Dunkin Donuts to get a great cup of coffee at a much better price at WAWA2/05/2005 3:32 PM|||raoul|||DUNKIN' is the only way to fly !!! I can't believe that more people are not going to lodge their complaints about this neo-Starbucks turn of events.3/22/2005 4:23 PM|||Anonymous|||In response to V Latella's post...
Yeah, there was a Dunkin Donuts in New Haven, CT that was doing that...it was disgusting. They put way too much syrup in and it didn't taste right anyway. I was going to report them to Dunkin Donuts corporate, but never got around to it. Maybe you should go to DunkinDonuts.com and see if there's a way to report that particular Dunkin', because they're probably not supposed to be doing that.

When I was a little girl my brothers used to get these easter egg donuts from my grandparents for easter. I used to be so jealous of them, and I asked my dad where my grandma got them from. He said the DD when I became old enough to buy my own stuff I went looking. I walked into DD (at easter time of course) and asked for those yummy looking egg shaped donuts. The chasier told me that sadly they had dicontinued the egg shaped donuts. With tears in my eyes I walked out empty handed. Now a lady in my twenties and still determined to get some of those so cute donuts Im on a hunt. We only hope that he, or the employee he talked to is mistaken. My friend wishes it known that he is also horrified by the thought.
In New England (atleast), DD offers flavored coffees. When visiting other areas of the country, we shy away from DD, because we’ve caught them using syrups to flavor the coffees. My friend was told by an employee that all Dunkies are going to go to syrups.

First you took away the counters. I can live with that. Then you stopped baking your donuts in store. I can live with that but I really miss the bismarks. Now you have gone to far you have messed with my coffee. I started out years ago drinking coffee light with 3 sugars and now drink Black 1/2 hazlenut 1/2 regular. I noticed that lately my coffee was not tasting as good and had a little aftertaste/bitterness. While going through my drivethru today I ordered my coffee and was told that D&D is now using flavor shots for coffee. Yeeech I thought my taste buds had changed when all along it was D&D taking something else from me. When you add a flavoring to coffee you are introducing something that is foreign to the purity of the taste. Dunkin Donuts you should be ashamed of yourself. What made the difference between you and the competition was the fact that you brewed coffee and they flavored coffee now you are no better. I hope other people feel the way I do Dunkin Donuts you have 1 less customer today. I will brew my own from here on out4/19/2005 2:33 PM|||Anonymous|||Hi there, Dunkin Donuts people! I noticed a lot of people complaining like myself, that there are no DD's on the West Coast, and that they're using flavor shots in stores now?? Well, I just went and complained to them on their own site. If you go to https://dunkindonuts.com/aboutus/contact/ you can send them feedback, which I've done before, and sometimes even gotten e-mail responses. But anyway, maybe if enough people complain to them about their lack of shops in the West and the disgusting flavor syrup crap, they'll reconsider a couple things. Granted there's probably a fairer chance they won't care, but as they say the squeaky wheel gets the grease. So hit their site, go to About Us, and click Contact Us and tell them what a shame some of these things are. Alrighty then. Off to Starbucks or Coffeebean or Peets now, because sadly that's all there is out here. Have a nice day!

Many Dunkins Donuts facilities have recently stopped brewing fresh flavored coffees and have, as an alternative, opted to using some nasty flavored (sweet) syryps to flavor the regular coffee. What on earth are you Dunkins people thinking??? For many many years, I have bought at least 2-3 Dunkin Hazelnut coffees per day, with cream NO SUGAR. If fact, I DESPISE sugar in my coffee. The flavor shots being used now in place of the real thing all contain sugar and, therefore, I have thrown the last coffee I bought down the sink. Until Dunkin Donuts brings back the fresh brewed Hazelnut coffee, I will be buying my 2-3 cups a day elsewhere. By the way, this has really messed up my day!5/15/2005 12:19 AM|||Anonymous|||Hi,

I worked at one that was in a gas station. My reasoning behind this was that it closes at night, so I wouldn't be getting weird hours. Once hired as a part-time employee, however, I began closing the store by myself nearly every night. I would generally be on my own from 3-11, dealing with the rush hour when people began to come home from work. (I won't even discuss the horror that is working by yourself on a weekend afternoon. Suffice it to say that people are very impatient and rude when you are working alone.) In any case, I just wanted to call attention to the fact that there are stores like mine out there, with horrible managers who should never have been given authority. Mine would call and yell at me if I hadn't had time to get everything done the night before, but never offer help. She couldn't fire me because so many people quit when she was made manager that we were desperately understaffed. I couldn't quit until now because I needed the money for college. I'm really hoping that someone from Dunkin's will read this and take a closer look at all their stores. This sort of thing is unacceptable from any employer.
