Who’s getting married at Dunkin’ Donuts? It’s up to America to make the final decision. From January 3 to January 14, 2005 folks can log on to IWantMyWeddingAtDunkinDonuts.com and cast their vote.

Six finalist couples in the New York- and Philadelphia- areas were chosen out of dozens of wedding hopefuls in the Dunkin’ Donuts Hole-y Matrimony Contest. All are vying for an all expense paid wedding at a Dunkin’ Donuts and a honeymoon trip for two to The Islands Of The Bahamas. These lucky couples include:

New York-area finalist couples

* Drew Christoffel and Mary Lapinski from Mahwah, NJ

* John Townsend and Michele Sarao from West Milford, NJ

* George Petrask and Rebecca Conklin from Bloomingdale, NJ

Philadelphia-area finalist couples

* Joseph Brobst and Jennifer Yotko from New Castle, DE

* Karen Carver and John Lester from Southampton, PA

* Jeffrey Dewald and Margaret Neary from Philadelphia, PA

TIEING THE KNOT IN A DONUT SHOP?

The average wedding can cost more than $30,000, but, according to the Dunkin’ Donuts “Hole-y Matrimony” survey,(*) about American’s behaviors and attitudes when it comes to weddings, only 32 percent of respondents characterized most of the weddings they have attended as fun. It’s no wonder that 73 percent of the people surveyed would say I DO to doing something a little bit over-the-top if they were the ones getting married.

“Couples are constantly looking for new and exciting ways to make their weddings more memorable,” states David Beahm, celebrity wedding planner and wedding planning consultant to the lucky couples who win the contest. “Dunkin’ Donuts is offering two lucky couples a truly wonderful (and fun) opportunity to both express their love for each other and make their special day truly unforgettable for both them and their guests.”

THE CONTEST

From November through December 2004, Dunkin’ Donuts asked wedding hopefuls in the New York-area (including Fairfield County Connecticut and Northern New Jersey) and the Philadelphia-area (including Southern New Jersey and Delaware) — to celebrate their devoted love in pink and orange fashion, and have the opportunity to win an all-expense paid wedding at a Dunkin’ Donuts shop. Future husbands and wives submitted their outrageous (but true) proposal story to IWantMyWeddingAtDunkinDonuts.com.

States. The respondents were members of the CyberPulse(TM) Advisory

Dunkin Donuts is a metaphor for the arid landscape of american values. a hole behind dunkin’ donuts is a mutation of the accepted norm, yet nobody knows because the sugar and fat content is so high that rational thought is damped.

I am from Australia, and we don’t have dunkin donuts here so I have absolutly no idea what this is all about. “getting married in a donut place”, this sounds very strange to me. Not sure if I would like to do that. Then again I am not sure if I would ever get married. Maybe one day if the right person comes along!! anyway keep up your great reading, its very interesting!! (I think)! :)

I’m one of the finalists! I think this is a brilliant idea, not only because I may win, because it gives those a chance to get married sooner than they had the financial means to do so! Michele and I would have to wait a few years in order to save up the gargantuan amount of money that is now needed for a decent wedding, and this gives us a chance to get married a lot sooner than we had planned! If would could’ve gotten married a week after I proposed, then we would. Neither of us wants to wait the two years.

    So, thank you Dunkin Donuts!

    I hope we win.

Everyone can relate to being naive enough to buy an engagement ring at Montego Bay airport and expect it to be real? How stupid! They deserved to get ripped off. Now, they’re looking for a handout??? Sheesh!

Couple #1 is the most attractive by far and their engagement story was head and shoulders above the others.

And as for couple #2 they don’t need a Dunkin Donuts wedding, they need a Jenny Craig wedding! LMAO…And how romantic was their dinner when they met their parents at the restaurant? Talk about campy…

I loved going to Dunkin’ Donuts when I was little, and so the title of your blog attracted me. This particular post was very interesting b/c a very close friend is getting married and I can’t imagine throwing a wedding in a donut shop…how would all the family and friends fit in? Will you be posting a picture of the winning couple?

Well…we got the phone call today! We won!

    Yup…COUPLE # 2! The “Jenny Craig” couple.

Yeah, my ass may be fat… but my big fat ass just won a FREE wedding! How many people can say that!

Thank you for anyone who voted, if anyone did….!

    Michele and I appreciate it!

And, the last “Jenny Craig” commentor, missed the whole point.

It wasn’t the fact that her mother and my parents were at the dinner with us, it was everything that led up to it. And if you knew to situation that we were in, having our parents celebrate that moment with us, was a BIG DEAL. It’s wasn’t campy.

So until you know the details, keep your comments to yourself.

Actually all of this is moot anyway, cause we won!

A corporate sponsored wedding? Give me a break. I don’t care if it’s .free.

Nothing in life is free and the price that you paid was obvious.

    It looked foolish and tasteless.

You should have celebrated a loss on this one. At least the other couples got a free trip to the Bahamas and didn’t have to deal with the other bs.
