Dunkin’ Donuts gets the nod on the Apprentice

Dunkin' Donuts was recently used as the breakfast of choice on the hit NBC television show The Apprentice. The Apprentice 3's second episode began with The Donald announcing that the two corporations would be renovating and operating two run-down New Jersey shore motels, with the task's winner to be determined by customer feedback.

Both teams used Dunkin' Donuts to sweeten the customer feedback sale as they handed out the world famous donuts and coffee alongside the feedback forms.

A marriage of two winners was created in the week The Donald married Melania - Dunkin' Donuts and The Apprentice.

One thing really pisses me off. In Brookline, MA there are two Dunkin Donuts on Beacon St. about a mile apart, one in Coolidge Corner and one by the St. Mary’s T stop on the border with Boston. The one in St. Mary’s ALWAYS has my favortie donut, Vanilla Cream…but the one in Coolidge Corner NEVER has it. WHAT IN THE HELL?!? I’ve asked them why they dont have it and they act like they dont know what I’m talking about. Isn’t there some sort of national Dunkin Donut standard that they need to adhere to? I want my Vanilla Cream!

Has Dunkin’ Donuts felt a sting from the Krispy Kreme phenomenon? Have you tried a Krispy Kreme?

HHmmmm. I live in the UK in the absence of any major Dunkin’ Dounuts outlets, so could someone let me know why they’re so great? Are we talking one almighty perfect donut here, or tens of types?

Yeah, it was featured… but then again so was Burger King. That’s a big thumbs down by association right there.

Also, as a fellow avid (rabid?) fan of all things Dunkin Donuts, I wanted to know if you could share the source code of this blog’s excellent format with me? I wish like nothing else that my blog could look like this. I would be forever grateful. Seriously if you ever needed anyone killed in exchange for sharing that info, I would help you out in a heartbeat.

    So… please?

Although Dunkin’ Donuts coffee is arguably one of the best, it is one of the worst places to work for and in my opinion give business to. I have worked at three Dunkin Donuts already and I’m only 18. Not once have I worked at one that I have enjoyed working for. The people that run these franchises run them very poorly and everytime I swear I feel like Dunkin Donuts should be on Fox 13’s Dirty Dining. Your food isn’t clean when you get it, trust me, unless of course I made it for you. But other than that, I rarely see someone use gloves for your food, and at the Dunkin Donuts on Fletcher and I-275, the old lady that works there will occassionally charge you an extra quarter just because….just because…that’s it, because the people that own it won’t be in business much longer. They constantly belittle their employees and sometimes even the customers. I think the problem is is that Dunkin Donuts is a franchise, it shouldn’t be. Some of them aren’t regulated properly trust me, I know. Your donuts could very well have been on the backroom floor before you got it, but they won’t throw it away because it’s a waste of their money, so for your own good, stay away!

What is it with California? I grew up in CT, went to school in Boston, and I LOVE Dunkin’ coffee. Starbucks is crap in my opinion. They’re too slow, too expensive, and don’t taste that good anyway except for their Frappucinos which cost about as much as a pound of Dunkin’ coffee beans.
Anyway, I moved to CA a couple years ago, and have since learned that Dunkin was here in the 90’s, left, came back in 2002, and left again? What’s the deal?
Here’s my theory: I taught computer classes here for a while, and have met many Californians. Everyone I talk to I end up mentioning I’m from the east coast (or “Back East” as they call it here), and that I’m mad that Dunkin’s not here. And they invariably say “Oh, have you tried Krispy Kreme?” When I tell them “No, no, no, Dunkin Donuts’ big product is the coffee.”, they respond with “Oh, they have good coffee? I didn’t know that”. So, this leads me to believe that Dunkin’s problem is ADVERTISING. See, in New England, all you have to do is open a Dunkin’ and you’re guaranteed business. It simply will NOT work that way here. People out here don’t know what Dunkin is today: A low priced, high speed, quality coffee/latte shop that also sells donuts and sandwiches. In 2004, donuts made up only 14% of their revenue. The rest, was the coffee and lattes. People out here think of Starbucks, and Coffee Been & Tea Leaf, and Java City, as coffee shops. It’s a general understanding that donut shops, such as Winchells, Spudnuts, YumYum, and so on, have crappy coffee (and they do). Dunkin DONUTS, is naturally perceived as just another donut shop, because the name implies it and people don’t know any better. If Dunkin’ Donuts is to succeed here, they need to advertise big time - tv, news paper, radio, and specifically tout themselves as a seller of the best coffee in town - better than Starbucks and the rest, YET faster and cheaper.
I have read online that outside the New England states, CA is the biggest customer of online coffee sales from dunkindonuts.com.
So, Dunkin’ Donuts, get your *** out here!!!! ANd another thing, why Sacremento? You need to open in Los Angeles area!!! Everyone here is in a car all the time, and needs good, fast coffee!!!! In the mean time, we’ll be in line at Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, and McDonald’s (since the former two don’t have egg sandwiches) giving them our money instead of you (except for the occasional $14 for a pound of coffee - $8 for the coffee, $6 for the shipping).

Just wanted to pitch in my 2 cents as I am new to Blogger and saw a link in my Dashboard to your site. In any case…

I was pretty young when my grampa died but one vivid memory I have of us together is him taking me to my local Dunkin’ Donuts every morning with him when my grandparents would come to visit. It was me and about a half dozen retired guys hanging out at the wavy counter with the barstools that would only let you spin about 90 degress in each direction.

He would always order me the same thing as he got… I don’t know if this is the official name, or if Dunkin’ Donuts still sells them but he called them “Bowties”. They were a long glazed donut that were twisted into a bowtie shape. They would bring them to us on a plate at the counter and he would take them both, put two pats of butter on them (it was like square flat butter with cardboard on one side and paper on the other) and then give the donuts back to them so they could heat em up in the microwave.

He had coffee and I chocolate milk in the cardboard carton. Good times…

I use to be huge Dunkin Donut fan. The coffee was awesome! The key word is was awesome. Several of the places around me have gotten pretty bad on the coffee and you have to pray to get a fresh donut. The one thing that hasn’t changed are the French Vanilla Coolatas which are always awesome no matter where I go!
