Dunkin’ Donuts Faces Critical Health Violations

Being a lifetime Chicago guy I love to read things related to Dunkin’ Donuts and Chicago; however, I was extremely dissappointed when I caught an article on the CBS 2 Chicago website this evening - not with CBS 2 Chicago, but with the Dunkin’ Donuts in the article. I couldn’t agree more with Jon Duncanson’s opening.

Chances are you’ve eaten donuts from this famous chain, but you’d be surprised at how many critical violations some of its stores have received in the last year.

The Dunkin’ Donuts, located at 7578 N. Western Ave., has been ticketed for some major Health Inspection violations. CBS 2 Chicago reports the following:

  • Food on the floors
  • Ice cream is too warm
  • Whip creame is too warm (found to be above 70 when it should not exceed 40)
  • Use of an unapproved ice machine
  • Open garbage containers with insects crawling all over them

As many of you know I am lifetime Dunkin’ Donuts guy, but I’ll be traveling down the street to another Dunkin’ Donuts location which passes Health Inspections. I love their donuts and coffee, but not at the expense of my own health!

Jon Duncanson ended with this thought

And a reminder that you always: Eat At Your Own Risk.

We asked Dunkin’ Donuts to respond to these health violations.

The company says, “The health and safety of our customers is our top priority.”

And in regard to the store at 7578 N. Western, the company said, “The franchisee has corrected all the issues addressed during the inspection.”
