Today I received a new friend request on my Dunkin Donuts Fan account in MySpace. The MySpace group has it in their sites to get Dunkin Donuts to change their styrofoam cups to paper cups - like the ones Starbucks uses. The group was started by two High School students named James and Mike - although I have not been able to confirm they are real High School students yet.
Check out the MySpace group. Leave a comment on their MySpace page or leave one here from them on your thoughts as to whether or not Dunkin Donuts should switch to paper cups.
this is james from that myspace group, please help us make a change for the it to break down and decompose, but the factories that make styrofoam, contribute GREATLY to the amount of reenhouse gasses in the atosphere. Dont get me wrog, i love dunkin donuts but they really should become more environment friendly. Please help us out and add our myspace, and/or write a short letter or email to the head office of dunkin donuts, i’m not sure what the address is, but i’m sure it can be foun somewhere on google or something. thanks so much.
–James.
p.s. if you’d like to talk more on this issue, you can talk to me on AIM at Jamesyboy92.
I am a Dunkin Donuts Manager. Occasionally we have customers ask to put their coffee in our cups we use for Lattes and Capp’s. These are paper cups, and we have no problem doing it. As a start, request to have your coffee put in a latte cup. One problem, coffee is brewed @ 202 degrees F, which if you haven’t yet felt how hot that is, try pouring a cup of coffee on your hand. Why do I mention this? Because Styrofoam takes almost all that heat away, whereas paper lets ALL of it through. Best of Luck!!
I am a store manager, I have recently accecpted a position as a manager for dunkin, I used to manage a small coffee shop that would use paper cups and offer a sleeve to the customer to protect their hand. I have often thought it was incrediabley unenviromently friendly for such a large company to use styrofoam cups. I am going to bring it to the head of my franchise and see what the response is. I will let you all know
Thanks Eric!!
I love this site.643511344
I have another issue about the paper cups at Dunkin’ Donuts. I heard that they don’t use wax i.e. petroleum to line them (petroleum is very unhealthy). If this is true, then DD deserves a thank you. I believe Starbucks and Peets still use wax-lined cups. Do any DD managers know?
Also, what about DD’s politics? I once read that they gave most of their allowable contribution funding to Republicans so I avoided it as I know Starbucks is Democrat. Any word on that either?
Thanks!
Susie

That’s a ridiculously ignorant comment. Geez, think about it for a couple seconds, or go to any other coffee shop in the country, and you will see that they have all hired rocket scientists to devise a sleeve which works perfectly.
And by the way, not only are latte cups made out of paper, but so are small cups!
It is definitely time for Dunkin’ Donuts to switch to paper cups. I work in downtown Chicago, and there are plenty of other coffee shops within walkind distance from my office that use paper cups. There is at least one shop that goes even further and uses and “eco cup” that is made from sustainable materials and completely decomposes within a year.
The problem for me is that I just loooove DD coffee for some weird reason. So, I have my own reusable cup that I take over there to have filled. If I happen to forget my cup, then I usually go to a different coffee shop that doesn’t use styrofoam.
